Call for Competitions | World Town Planning Day-2026
Dear Planner,
Greetings from Bangladesh Institute of Planners (BIP) and hope this email finds you in good health.
Every year, World Town Planning Day 2026 emphasizes the power of planning to create sustainable, inclusive, equitable, prosperous and resilient cities and communities, while helping societies respond to climate change, disasters, housing challenges and spatial inequalities. This event will bring together planners, policymakers, students, and the public to celebrate planning as a shared responsibility and collective vision. More than a festival, it is a movement to reclaim our urban spaces, promote inclusive dialogue, and inspire commitment to a better urban future for all.
The year 2026 commemorates a decade since Bangladesh, along with 192 other countries, pledged to the SDGs 2030. Accordingly, Bangladesh Institute of Planners (BIP) is going to celebrate World Town Planning Day 2026 festivities, focusing on the theme “Great Communities are Built on Planning: Together We Deliver, Together We Thrive, Together We Sustain”.
To build great communities together, BIP has arranged following several different competitions for BIP Members, relevant professionals and Planning Students, an opportunity to re-imagine urban spaces and contribute together to Sustainable Cities and Communities:
- Inter-University Planning Debate Competition (Only for Planning Students)
- Inter-University Lab/Sessional Project Competition (Only for Planning Students)
- BURP and MURP Thesis Competition (Only for Planning Students)
- Photography Competition & Exhibition
- Poster Competition
- Social Awareness Reels & Apps Competition
